Marli Rupe

Marli is the manager of the Poultney Mettowee Conservation District, which works with individuals, farmers, students and communities on natural resource and water quality related issues. She has a degree in Animal Sciences from UVM and is currently pursuing her master’s at Green Mountain College in Environmental Sciences, with a focus on public participation processes in environmental issues. Prior to the District, she was a UVM Extension Specialist working with dairy farmers in southern VT. That and her former life milking cows has given her a great appreciation for the value of agriculture in Vermont, and the issues related to land use planning and management. Working with farmers for so long has also given her a realistic approach to decision making and a respect for the importance of proactive approaches to conservation.

Marli lives in Poultney with her husband and teenage daughter. She is also on the Poultney Planning Commission and is an avid cross-country skier.
