Some words from our Supporters

"I can think of no more worthwhile environmental effort than the Vermont River Conservancy’s plan to conserve and preserve access to our water resources."

Howard Frank Moser, Irasburg, VT

Wells River Conservation Area

"$100 isn’t enough to pay for all the happy times I’ve had there (Buttermilk Falls)."

M. & T. F.

"I would like to donate this money in the name of my parents. Each visit to Vermont would send us all on quests to find waterfalls. Although we never found Buttermilk Falls, the picture in the paper made me wish we had."

C. C., Chester, VT

Buttermilk Falls

"Buttermilk Falls is a most beautiful place, and I hope the River Conservancy can be good guardians. Thank you for keeping this treasure accessible!"

P. D., Cuttingsville, VT

"For over fifty years, my family and I have loved that spot (Buttermilk Falls). When the children were young, we picnicked and swam there time and again, often the only group there on some glorious summer day. It has been a mystery to me how this beautiful area has managed to remain unspoiled for so long, and it seemed that sooner or later, it would be removed entirely from public access. My donation is small; I wish I could contribute ten times as much, but it is a heartfelt gesture from me and my elderly husband now in a nursing home, and in the name of dozens of relatives and friends from afar who have spent time there with us in the past. May your wise and dedicated enterprise come to fruition."

K. B., Ludlow, VT

Twenty Foot Hole

"Enclosed is my check to help buy 20 Foot Hole. I wish I could give more for I cannot begin to tell you how much this place means to me. I have been swimming there for at least 25 years. I do a great deal of traveling around the world – Africa, Asia, Central America – and because of this I am acutely aware of how rapidly the world is changing. It has been a source of great comfort to come home to see that one of my favorite places on earth has not changed. Please let this continue. I hope you pull this one off."

Bolton Swimming Hole

"We are so very happy to contribute to this effort to save our swimming waters. I have enjoyed swimming there for over fifty years and agree at all costs it should remain always as it is today. When the world goes totally mad, this place will help put things back in perspective! Thank goodness for this movement toward perpetuity."

Buttermild Falls

“One cannot photograph the waterfalls on Hancock Brook without a sense of the past generations who enjoyed its beauty and swam in its pools.  With an increasing loss of public access to some of Vermont's most beautiful places, we are profoundly grateful to VRC for their proactive approach in the preservation of Hancock Brook for future generations.”
