Property Description: This 5-acre field provides a place for spring runoff and potential flood waters to flow, serving as an important flood control parcel.

Project Background: The Dave Weaver field was identified in the Department of Environmental Conservation’s plan for the Whetstone Brook as a priority for river corridor easement protection.  Working with the West Brattleboro Association and the Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District, VRC was able to acquire the funding to purchase the land in fee.  The parcel will be managed for agricultural and recreational uses.

Directions: From downtown Brattleboro or Exit 2 off Interstate 91, head west on Route 9 (Western Ave which becomes Marlboro Ave) for about 3 miles.  Turn right on Sunset Lake Ave and park, property is on the north of the junction of Sunset Lake Ave and Marlboro Ave.
