Funding Partners:  Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Department of Environmental Conservation Ecosystem Restoration Program, and a generous donation from the landowner.

Property Description:  This parcel, just upstream of the village of Waitsfield, provides a critical safety valve for flood events. Like many rivers in Vermont, the Mad River will see more frequent and increased magnitude floods due to changing weather patterns.  This parcel has the capacity to absorb floodwaters and to accommodate the changing channel pattern of the Mad as the river responds to these new climate conditions.
